How it works

You describe the case. We do the searching.

  1. Tell us what happened

Plain English is fine. You don't need to know which specialty to ask for. That's our job.

  2. We confirm the brief

Your case manager confirms the specialty, the medical questions, your filing deadline and the records the expert will need.

  3. Pick from your shortlist

Within 48 hours you get 2–3 vetted experts with CVs, fees and availability, conflicts already checked. Retain the one you want.

Common questions

Medical expert witnesses, answered

How much does a medical expert witness cost?

Medical experts set their own rates, commonly a few hundred to over a thousand dollars an hour. SEAK's 2024 survey of testifying experts put the median at $450 an hour for file review. Affiant charges a flat $1,500 per retained expert and never marks up the expert's hours.

How fast can I get a medical expert witness?

Affiant sends a shortlist of 2–3 vetted experts with CVs, fees and availability within 48 hours of confirming your case brief.

What if I don't know which specialty I need?

Describe what happened in plain English. Your case manager identifies the specialty a court is likely to accept, any supporting experts, and the records the expert will need.

Do you work with plaintiff and defense attorneys?

Yes. Affiant works with plaintiff firms, defense firms and insurers on personal injury, medical malpractice and workers' compensation matters.

What is the difference between an expert witness and an independent medical exam?

An expert witness reviews records and gives an opinion, often in a report and testimony. An independent medical exam (IME) is a physician's in-person evaluation of the injured person. Affiant arranges both.

How are Affiant experts vetted?

We verify board certification and active licensure, review testimony history, and check for conflicts before an expert reaches your shortlist.
